CSET: Spanish

This test will be administered exclusively on computer beginning September 7, 2015. Registration for this new computer-based test (CBT) is now open.

The World Languages subtests taken toward a Single Subject Teaching Credential differ from the subtests taken toward a Bilingual Authorization. For more information on certification requirements, see Tests Used Toward Certification.

CSET subtests used toward a Single Subject Teaching Credential in Spanish:

  • Spanish Subtest I (test code 145)
  • Spanish Subtest II (test code 146)
  • Spanish Subtest III (test code 147)

CSET subtests used toward a Bilingual Authorization for Spanish:

  • Spanish Subtest III (test code 147)
  • World Languages Subtest IV (test code 250)
  • Spanish Subtest V (test code 258)

You may register to take any one subtest in a single test session.

Format
Computer-based test (CBT) only:
  • Subtest I: 40 multiple-choice questions and 3 constructed-response questions
  • Subtest II: 40 multiple-choice questions and 1 constructed-response question
  • Subtest III: 30 multiple-choice questions and 6 constructed-response questions
  • Subtest IV: 50 multiple-choice questions
  • Subtest V: 50 multiple-choice questions

Session Length
Subtest I: 1 hour 45 minutes
Subtest II: 1 hour 30 minutes
Subtest III: 2 hours 15 minutes
Subtests IV and V: 1 hour and 15 minutes per subtest
15 additional minutes is provided to complete a nondisclosure agreement and tutorial. Any time taken for breaks is considered part of your available testing time.
Passing Score
220 per subtest

Notes
Subtests I, II, and III include one or more assignments that allow you to use special characters (e.g., diacritical marks) in your typed responses. Refer to the interactive CBT tutorial for information on how to access and use the character selector feature.

Subtest III includes one or more assignments that require you to record spoken responses. Refer to the interactive CBT tutorial for information on how to use the audio capture feature.

 

Tests may include questions that are evaluated for future administrations and do not affect a candidate's score.
