California Examination and Assessment Registration Fee Waivers
Effective July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023, eligible California residents have the opportunity to take California educator examinations and performance assessments free of charge while funds remain. You must have a valid California mailing address and no more than one unexcused absence from a scheduled appointment to qualify for these examination/assessment fee waivers. If you have two or more unexcused absences and lose your fee waiver eligibility and need to test again, you will need to pay your registration fees using a credit, debit, or check card to test in the future. If eligible, the fee waivers will be automatically applied to your selected examinations and/or performance assessments during the registration process. If you were eligible for a fee waiver and registered for an examination or performance assessment beginning July 1, 2022, and did not have your fees waived, a refund will be provided to you at a future date, subject to approval by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
You may schedule up to five concurrent assessments at any one time. Note that a combination of subtests scheduled in a single test appointment counts as one concurrent active registration. The fee waivers do not apply to the NES Assessments of Professional Knowledge and the WEST–E Designated World Languages: Latin test. Learn more about the California Assessment Fee Waivers.
